I will meet some of the questions that will not hesitate to appear.
Which are the cases when Baby-Led Weaning (BLW) is not appropriate?
If your baby has a medical condition that can affect his ability to eat and swallow food, you should consult your pediatrician before starting BLW.
Can the recipes be cooked for anyone ?
Yes, as long as there are no allergies involved or intolerance (gluten, lactose, etc.). For the latter, there are separate categories on the blog with gluten-free and lactose-free dishes. These recipes are actually for the whole family but adapted so that baby can eat the same thing with the rest of the family. There is why all recipes are baked, boiled or steamed and there is no salt, sugar and honey before 1 year of age. If needed they can be added to dishes strictly for adults.
But it’s very important that before you start BLW, to read about what is Baby-Led Weaning, which are the signs to show that the baby is ready and suggestions for first meals.
Can I change an ingredient ?
For best results and to the possible extent, I recommend using specified ingredients. Most times, where compatible, I give myself some alternatives. If you do not have them or they are possible allergens in your case, the child or another family member and you decide to replace the ingredient I do not know to what extent it will affect the taste, texture, color and form of the dish. Some may drastically influence the dish if changed. It’s a trial and error process.
Who writes and tests the recipes ?
Each recipe is tested, written and adapted by me.
Do I do something else besides this blog ?
For now I’m managing the blog part-time. I have a 2 years old boy who needs my time and I enjoy him as much as I can. Also I’m an architect, so I try to practice it as little as I can helping my husband (also an architect) with our projects. This blog is also my “baby” and it will be treated as such with all the attention and involvement that is needed. I hope you enjoy it.
Who takes the photos and what camera do I use ?
The images on this blog are taken and edited specially for it.
The header images on every page are made by Vali Matei Photography.
The images with the food (from every post) are taken by me and edited by my husband. The cameras that I use are a compact Canon G12 and a mirrorless Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II with a 14-42mm Zuiko lens.
